From Nantes, take A83(E5) Auto-route to Bordeaux. (NB : Aire de la Vendée is a great half-way break) Ignore signs for Niort and just past a Leclerc filling station (N°134 on the central reservation), take exit 10 : Niort Nord signposted to Parthenay & Niort. It will take you 1½ hours to get there with no break. After the peage, take the 3rd exit off the roundabout, go round a tight right hand bend and join the D743 dual carriageway heading towards Echiré & Niort.
